Yesterday we talked about truth. The word truth, or אֱמוּנָה (emunah), also means a true testimony or witness, a faithful record or account of what happened.
I followed the word אֱמוּנָה through the Old Testament, and a verse in Proverbs jumped right off the page at me.
“He who speaks truth (אֱמוּנָה) declares righteousness,
But a false witness, deceit” (Proverbs 12:17, NKJV).
This truth-speaker sounds like Yeshua.
- He speaks (פּוּחַ – puah, breathes out) truth, and when He breathes out truth, He declares righteousness.
- He declares (נָגַד – nagad, takes the high ground and conspicuously shows forth). There is no missing it. He shouts it from the rooftops.
- He is declaring righteousness (צֶדֶק – tzedek, that which is normal, right, just, fair weights and measures).
There is no fake news here. No playing switcheroo politically. Only justice, truth, fairness. Same rules for everyone. No lying about prices, no taxes for one group but not for the other. No blaming. Just truth.
But Yeshua, our Truth Teller, wants us to breathe out truth, too. I’m thinking about my Heidi Cooper, from Torah Family Living, who made stickers to take with her to town next time she goes. I hope she doesn’t mind if I share them here. They make me laugh, but if she puts one of those Biden stickers next to inflated prices of gas at the pump, she is going to help them think about what is true!
When Biden says safety and security, he actually means death and destruction. Check out what Biden’s presidential campaign said on September 4, 2020. (It’s only one minute long.)
But exactly one year later, on September 4, 2021, Joe Biden is called a national security threat! I wouldn’t say he is trusted. I think it’s safe to say most people recognize he is a false witness who breathes out deceit.
Let’s see what the Scriptures say. I’ve highlighted a few key points.
“But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of YHVH so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, ‘Peace and safety!’ then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober” (1 Thessalonians 5:1-6, NKJV).
“And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. ‘Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame'” (Revelation 16:13-15, NKJV).
“Therefore hear the word of YHVH, you scornful men,
Who rule this people who are in Jerusalem,
Because you have said, ‘We have made a covenant with death,
And with Sheol we are in agreement.
When the overflowing scourge passes through,
It will not come to us,
For we have made lies our refuge,
And under falsehood we have hidden ourselves.’Therefore thus says YHVH Elohim:
“Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation,
A tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation…Whoever believes will not act hastily.
Also I will make justice the measuring line,
And righteousness the plummet;
The hail will sweep away the refuge of lies,
And the waters will overflow the hiding place.
Your covenant with death will be annulled,
And your agreement with Sheol will not stand;
When the overflowing scourge passes through,
Then you will be trampled down by it.
As often as it goes out it will take you;
For morning by morning it will pass over,
And by day and by night;
It will be a terror just to understand the report.”For the bed is too short to stretch out on,
And the covering so narrow that one cannot wrap himself in it.
For YHVH will rise up as at Mount Perazim [where David defeated Goliath],
He will be angry as in the Valley of Gibeon [where Joshua defeated the Amalekites]—
That He may do His work, His awesome work,
And bring to pass His act, His unusual act.
Now therefore, do not be mockers,
Lest your bonds be made strong;
For I have heard from YHVH Elohim Tzevaot,
A destruction determined even upon the whole earth” (Isaiah 28:14-22).
Our Truth Teller — Messiah Yeshua — will arise and declare truth, justice, and honest measures.
Those who make a covenant with death, saying that their lies and deceit will protect them from the judgment of YHVH, will surely be swept away with the hail and storm.
And when all the lies are swept away, it will be as Christine Miller once wrote:
“In this bowl, the refuge of lies is swept away (Isa 28:17), so that people’s eyes will be opened to the truth. Those who hunger and thirst for truth, but who, through no fault of their own, have been fed a steady diet of lies their whole life that they have believed, God will answer their cry and reveal truth to them. Vast numbers of people will no longer be sincerely deceived about God, the devil/the beast, or what is true. If people still reject God and/or truth after this process, it will be because they have chosen to do so, and not because they were sincere but deceived.”
So what should we do? Declare truth! Breathe it out of us!
As mothers who hold our homes together like glue, justice and fairness must be the hallmark of our families. We must hold our children to a high standard of equal weights and measures. We need to ensure that we act only upon eye-witness reports when our children tattle about each other. We must not be swayed by bribery or playing favorites among siblings. Sweep away the refuge of lies! Breathe out truth!
And if we get in the habit of breathing out truth at home, may we also act with the courage of Heidi Cooper, shouting truth from the rooftops — with stickers, if need be. (Do you sell these stickers, Heidi?)
The Day of YHVH is coming like a thief! Have you warned your loved ones? Don’t be afraid what the world will do to you.
“For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Master Yeshua the Messiah, who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep [whether we live through the coming judgment or die in persecution], we should live together with Him. Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing” (1 Thessalonians 5:9-11).
“Whatsoever things are true… think on these things.”

I was so excited to find this blog today,… but then ran across this post. I’m a christian who believes that Trump lost the election and that we need to move on from that distraction… and that masks can protect our friends and neighbors from a dangerous virus. Disappointed in your depiction of the “truth”. It’s your blog, so I respect your right to your opinion, but I won’t be back.

These are most difficult times. I found this blog researching the meaning of Psalm 8:2. I love Annie’s explanation backed by scripture.
I too was taken aback when I read this portion. I am uncomfortable about the election and this pandemic. I’m not an eye witness at the counting of the votes nor am I in the labs seeing first hand the evidence of this virus.
I believe all politicians lean toward crookedness and therefore, I hunker down in prayer and in the word waiting on the Lord.
I don’t think the stickers are the way to go. They will push more people away from God than draw them near. I think as Christians we need to be careful about making things political.
This all being said, I do appreciate Annie’s wisdom and her wit.
The important thing to remember is that God desires all of us, even those who are our “enemies.”
