The following includes a book review of Aleph-Tav Body System: Restoring the Hebrew Bio-Energetic Temple, by Dr. Alphonzo V. Monzo III (Ohio: Health Restoration Ministries, 2021, updated 09-24-24, 10th correction edition).
I wanted to write a brief note about something that’s been on my heart for the past month or so.
In the month of January, the well-known Shabbat Night Live did a month-long series on energy healing. Even though my husband and I were featured guests on Shabbat Night Live in June 2023, this recent series made us very sad. We are, honestly, appalled at the Torah Movement’s increased interest in healing that has its roots in the new age movement.
Using energies and remote healing—this is just shamanism, turning to mediums, and pagan idolatry, dressed up in Hebrew-roots lingo.
Alphonzo Monzo, who was featured on Shabbat Night Live, claims that he learned his method of energy healing from Jin Shin Jyutsu, “which contains many new age ideas and philosophies,” and from Dr. Glenn King, who “changed the name of the art to Ki-IKI JUTSU® and eventually to TKM® (The King Institute Method®).”1Alphonzo V. Monzo III, ND, Aleph-Tav Body System (Ohio: Health Restoration Ministries, 2021), 48.
According to Monzo, the creator of Jin Shin Jyutsu “experienced a feeling of being lifted out of a deep trance… and tremendous heat” when “healed” by the method he “discovered” on a mountain in Japan, while “sitting in specific positions and holding his fingers.” Monzo claims that this long-lost method could possibly have been brought to Japan by the lost ten tribes of Israel.2Alphonzo V. Monzo III, ND, Aleph-Tav Body System (Ohio: Health Restoration Ministries, 2021), 50-51.
Dr. King, who practiced other new-age healing practices such as acupuncture, acupressure, shiatsu, reflexology, and other “color, taste, sound, and aroma” therapies, supposedly “stripped the years of mysticism and mythology surrounding the [Jin Shin Jyutsu] method down to its core, and in doing so, discovered the fingerprints of a perfect and awesome Creator.” He claims to have had a deep understanding of the method “not taught or found in any writings” but received from “many revelations from God.”3Alphonzo V. Monzo III, ND, Aleph-Tav Body System (Ohio: Health Restoration Ministries, 2021), 52.
Monzo himself was taught in many new-age practices. He completed a “three-year internship with the King Institute, Inc. where he specialized in The King Institute Method® (TKM®).”4https://www.drmonzo.com/professional, accessed 02-21-2025 He has “a double degree from Life Training Institute as a Naturopathic Doctor (N.D.) and a Licensed Professional Naturopathic Minister (Beaumont, TX),”5https://www.well-beingbydesign.com/aboutus, accessed 02-21-2025 where students are taught unbiblical healing methodologies such as iridology, muscle testing, homeopathy, and reflexology6https://lifetraininginstitute.org/professional-naturopathic-programs/, accessed 02-21-2025.
Monzo admits that “much of the information and understanding [in his Aleph-Tav Body System] was clouded by either New Age principles from the Jin Shin Jyutsu® (JSJ) teachings or even paganism disguised as Christianity from the King Method (TKM®) teachings. Now it is most likely that neither Dr. King or Jiro Murai purposely intended to teach New Age or paganism principles, but there is residue from both cultures and their religious systems.”7Alphonzo V. Monzo III, ND, Aleph-Tav Body System (Ohio: Health Restoration Ministries, 2021), 54.
“Give no regard to mediums and familiar spirits; do not seek after them, to be defiled by them: I am YHVH your God” (Leviticus 19:31).
“When you come into the land which YHVH your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominations of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For all who do these things are an abomination to YHVH, and because of these abominations YHVH your God drives them out from before you. You shall be blameless before YHVH your God. For these nations which you will dispossess listened to soothsayers and diviners; but as for you, YHVH your God has not appointed such for you” (Deuteronomy 18:9-13).
Many Torah people believe that we can strip all New Age or pagan practices from something and redeem it as good. However, Deuteronomy 12 says just the opposite.
“These are the statutes and judgments which you shall be careful to observe in the land which YHVH God of your fathers is giving you to possess, all the days that you live on the earth. You shall utterly destroy all the places where the nations which you shall dispossess served their gods, on the high mountains and on the hills and under every green tree. And you shall destroy their altars, break their sacred pillars, and burn their wooden images with fire; you shall cut down the carved images of their gods and destroy their names from that place. You shall not worship YHVH your God with such things” (Deuteronomy 12:1-4).
We are to come out of Babylon. We are not to touch any unclean thing!
Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said:
“I will dwell in them
And walk among them.
I will be their God,
And they shall be My people.”Therefore
“Come out from among them
And be separate, says YHVH.
Do not touch what is unclean,
And I will receive you.”
“I will be a Father to you,
And you shall be My sons and daughters,
Says YHVH Almighty” (2 Corinthians 6:14-18).
Dear sisters, just as we cannot clean up Halloween, Christmas, or Easter, we also cannot clean up New Age healing practices. Just because something could have come from the Lost Ten Tribes (who were cast out of the Land because of idolatry, by the way) does not mean we should copy it! Seeking remote healing and energies is the same as seeking after mediums. It is idolatry!
Helpful Resources
Amy Guenther, from Torah Sisters Magazine, has written an in-depth article on why these energy healing practices are of the occult. Definitely take the time to read that.
Shauna Manfredine, of Lighted Way Ministries and author of Escaping from the Dragon’s Jaws: How to Safeguard Your Family from Satan’s Deadly Infiltration, has made two helpful videos to teach why these practices are so dangerous. She also explains how to know if a “natural” remedy is okay to use or not, according to the Torah. She did an excellent job on these, so I wanted to share them with you.
(Note: These videos were on her YouTube channel until February 20, 2025, when “YouTube took our channel down, overnight on February 20… They have informed us that we have violated their rules for content, although we carefully read their rules and have not found that to be so. We requested YouTube to redress the matter. They did and said that they are standing by their decision. Our YouTube channel is permanently removed and we are forbidden to make another YouTube channel.” You can find Lighted Way Ministries on Vimeo and Rumble.)
Here is a recent teaching from my husband on this issue:
Here is a video about a similar method called Reiki, where they talk about how it was made palatable so Christians would accept it.
I hope you will take the time to study this out for yourself, with your Bible open. Just because something calls itself “Torah observant” doesn’t mean that it is. Be careful!
Thank you for letting me share my heart!

A great resource is the book Ouija Medicine by Marci Julin.
Thank you!
Thank you Anne,
I appreciate your time to research and teach. I saw the last episode you are speaking of. I found it interesting and thought it must be okay, it was presented on Michael Rood’s show. Someone i respect greatly and believe he is very knowledgeable and lead by Yah’s spirit. I honestly didn’t give it much thought. I agree with you. We must test everything with His word. I look forward to checking out Lighted Way Ministries. We must keep our guard up. Satan is crafty and looks for any he can devour. Thanks again for all you do! I’m thankful I stumbled upon you and know I am guided by our wonderful Savior, Yeshua!
Hi Ann, I agree wholeheartedly, we have warned people about this and about following after those who practice this. It is New Age dressed as Torah. They re-named things like chakra’s but in essence practice the same. It makes me sad to see how easily people follow after this deception.
Thank you so much for posting this. i have gotten caught up in this trap. i was seeing a “christian” naturopath that delved into these practices. once they told me to tap my forehead and repeat a phrase over and over i was done. I did have red flags before this too but i ignored it. once i fully came into torah i knew I had to get out. i do fully believe food and herbs are what God has created for us to use but its what we do with these things that can get us into a lot of trouble or down a very dark tunnel.
I have been deceived by this unfortunately!! My mother had a long battle with an incurable cancer recently and due to our background in the evangelical movement and the belief that every problem coming from your bloodline, I was wondering if it was because of a generational curse. (As her side of the family had specific blood disorders)
I then approached torah keeping counselors and asked the question if we keep Torah, do we still need to repent of sins in our past and up the bloodline? The answer was a resounding yes.
Even tho I asked if Torah should be our hedge, then how could those things affect us?
I then also spoke to a friend who is torah keeping and she explained that she had a brain tumor and when she went for this muscle iniquity testing, coupled with biblical essential oils, that the tumor disappeared. (Yet she wasn’t fully restored in her memories from this healing – that should’ve been a red flag!)
I was desperate for an answer and to eradicate this affliction from our bloodlines. So I set to work with good intentions and booked a lot of sessions to test for iniquities and to repent – what can the harm be? It’s only repentance. I was shocked to see how accurate it was.
I then decided to test sins that I have repented of and lo and behold, she could still pick up on those sins. I was very disappointed because I knew that I had sincerely repented and turned away from those sins decades ago, yet here she can pick it all up and I had to re-repent. Ugh. I felt like YHWH didn’t hear or accepted my repentance.
I feel so foolish. Because all of this happened during a major storm and stress in our life and it caused a lot of confusion for me.
The only good that came from this is that I realized that I had taken so much from the evangelical movement and just brought it into Torah, not testing those spirits/beliefs. Well, I had to deal with all those things this past year and clean our spiritual house beliefs properly. I had to renounce all those beliefs and have to re-look at scripture through the eyes of everything being spiritualized.
I can only pray and ask my Heavenly Father to spare me from the foolish thing I have done and that it wont have any backlash on the life of myself and my children.
The problem is they label everything with scripture and torah concepts. A huge deception.
Thank you so very much for this public statement. And thank you for putting the specific information with footnotes and sources.
It’s so interesting. I remember that series coming up and I had no interest watching it and I couldn’t figure out why. I enjoy SNL very much. But now that you explain it, it shows the Spirit was telling me it doesn’t align with His Word. I know there is energy based healing He has meant for us- But I believe it’s as simple as spending time outside in the sunshine and grounding in the earth our Creator made. -things like that. When we are being obedient and cultivating the earth, these are natural side effects we don’t even have to go out seeking. He naturally implements them in the very tasks He has for us. Our Creator is very smart.
Thank you Anne, I been fighting against this for years in Shabbat group. I was appalled when it was on SNL. thank you for standing up. I pray many would turn away from their sin.
