My friend forwarded me a link to a blog with a homemade pop-tart recipe. She knows my weaknesses!
Yes, I do really like Pop-Tarts… This past December, on the day my husband and I moved into our new house… and the kids were off at Grandma’s house and couldn’t tell on me… we snuck to the store and bought TWO BOXES of Pop-Tarts. Yum… We were going to splurge. I mean, what woman could make homemade, soaked oatmeal with healthy ingredients when she’s surrounded with moving boxes and has no idea where the pots are? So we brought those Pop-Tarts home… yes, two packages for two people, LOL…
We tore into some of our stacked-up boxes, desperately looking for the cookie sheets. Eureka! We found them! Then we laid out ALL the Pop-Tarts on two cookie sheets and baked them in our oven. We were like two little kids, snipping the corner off the frosting packets and making designs all over the top. No kids around to share them with. Ahhh… We sank our teeth into them and dunked them in our coffee…
Knock, knock… someone’s at the door…
It was my friend! Oh, no! She knows I’m an author and have a health website! Quick, hide the evidence!
It was too late! But thankfully, she thought it was funny. Funny enough to send me a link to homemade Pop-Tarts tonight. Is she trying to tell me something?????
So with great honor, I send you to this blog, where the homemade Pop-Tarts are loaded with sugar… but at least there’s no MSG, like in the ones we ate in December.
Enjoy…

Hey Hon,
Those weren’t pop tarts, those were Toaster Strudels. Way better than pop-tarts!! And only a tenth of the calories ;)!LOL. Anyhow, the one who caught us originally was seen recently herself pilfering store-bought Pop-tart Pastries. Will these egregious actions ever desist!!

Enjoy the pop-tarts or strudels. We can be so health minded that we forget the enjoyment of certain foods like you had that day! ;O) Coming from one who was very diet/health minded, I have learned that everything, even the good stuff, should be in moderation. Enjoyed yes…but in moderation.
Thank you for stopping by my blog – it is nice to meet you. I hope you will share with us your sticky note postings. ;o) Who knew those little notes could be so much fun!

Wow, those look awesome! I am making those…soon!!! I have been buying PopTarts lately because I am so hungry when I first get up that I wanted something that I could grab and eat fast so I wouldn’t get upset with the kids (because I was hungry). I also haven’t been able to eat my favorite…the ones with brown sugar….because I am still nursing my 8 month old and she has a milk allergy (of course that flavor has milk in it). Thanks so much!

Ok, so I tried these this morning….the brown sugar and cinnamon. Oh my goodness…these are awesome! I made the dough last night and left it in the fridge over night. Then I got the mixture ready and the icing made last night also. Then I just had to put it all together this morning. The kids and my husband all really liked them!
