Curse Breakers

My own mind has been thinking some deep things the past few days. I’ve actually shed some tears over loved ones who are lost. I’ve been asking myself, what causes one person to break free of the cycle and curse of sin, while another doesn’t?

The Spirit of God breathes life into us. Our dry bones come alive. There can be no other answer!

But after we come alive, He has to put sinews on us and bring flesh upon us, cover us with skin and put breath in us, so we can live.

I think this happens from the Word, from immersing ourselves in it.

In Ezekiel 37, where I’m getting these ideas, the prophet Ezekiel had to prophesy to the dead bones before the Spirit of God came on them. Likewise, we all need that friend, sister, book author, preacher, someone, to speak truth to us.

The dry bones had one job: “Hear the word of YHVH!”

Those who won’t pique their ears at His Word, and listen, repent, and obey, simply won’t come to life again.

But even after we have sinews put on us, and flesh and skin, and His Word breathed into us, we need someone to come along and say to us, “Live!”

We need to *see* that He has good for us if we will just walk in His way. Hope comes when we see the example of an older sister walking in truth, and we realize what a great home and bunch of kids she has, and we see she has shalom—and we want that hope for ourselves. We want to live too!

The work of “prophets” such as friends and sisters and mothers and wise, older mentors needs to carry on, speaking life over us, not just on Sabbath but on Mondays and Wednesdays too.

We need their advice. We need to listen to it, and we need to hear it often.

And we need to stop our ears from hearing any wind of doctrine that is against Yeshua or His Torah. No, no, that wind only brings death! We should know, because that’s how we got in that valley of skeletons in the first place.

We were slain, lying there all cursed in the valley of dry bones. We come from generations of cursed, dead souls. One time of hearing the Breath of God is not enough. Yes, it’s a start, but to stop the curses and sin cycles, we need to be filled and immersed with the Spirit of God, through His Word and godly mentors.

Paul says,

“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Messiah, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Messiah; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting…” (Ephesians 4:11-14).

And later, he writes,

“But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine: that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience; the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things— that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed” (Titus 2:1-5).

I have a friend who calls herself a “curse breaker.” She’s the only woman in her family to have chosen to walk in truth, and she spends a lot of time mentoring younger moms (mostly through phone calls, texts, and messages). I watch her in action and want to be like her.

Let’s all be curse breakers! Dry bones, come alive! Hear the Word of YHVH! Spirit, breathe on us! May we get up tomorrow and walk in hope one more time. Let’s breathe the Word over each other! Let’s be an entire army, awake and moving!
