“She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar.” (Proverbs 31:14).
The Proverbs 31 woman was so resourceful! She is compared to a merchant ship, in that she was continuously supplying her home with things that it needed. I am encouraged to be frugal, wise, and thoughtful in my homemaking.
Today, I thought you all would enjoy reading some other author’s writings on Proverbs 31. There is certainly no shortage on the Internet! I thought it was very helpful to get some fresh perspective. (Plus, it’s always fun to visit new websites.)

You know, the thought occurred to me that food isn’t the only thing referred to in this verse. I can be resourceful in many ways, from clothing to time management to choice of homeschooling supplies. What are some other ways we can be resourceful? Add your comments below…
being resourceful to me means using what you can from what you have available. that might mean looking for schoolbooks on ebay, checking out a thrift store for a new winter coat, filling out a form on a website for a free sample of shampoo ( don’t laugh! i have enuf free samples of shampoo to last a year lol )
bartering- ( i’ll babysit your baby for one hour if your teen will clean up my backyard)
trading- i’ll give you 10 peppers from my garden if you’ll give me 10 tomatos from your garden) etc. we don’t always need money or a store to accomplish what we need to get or do 🙂
