As we’re in the swirl of holiday cooking, I am repeatedly reminded that one of the toughest things about eating right is, well, needing some delicious (and easy) recipes that taste comforting and familiar to our families!

When I started my website, Anne’s Health Place, one of my first goals was to figure out how to make food that was

  1. healthy
  2. easy
  3. and cheap!

That remains my goal daily in my own kitchen — but it’s tough!

  • Healthy? Easy enough… except it means I need to cook and bake everything from scratch. That’s not always easy!
  • Easy? Well, one of the things that makes processed food so nice is that it’s really easy to pick up a box from the shelf at the store, knowing that it will taste good enough (“normal”) for my kids to eat it, and I can prepare it quickly. Sadly, the taste of these foods comes from additives that are highly toxic to our bodies. So much for healthy!
  • Cheap? The budget flies right out the window when I try to buy all my healthy foods from online sources or health-food stores. Shipping costs a lot, especially when ingredients are shipped from the other side of the world. So much for my budget!

During this last year, I’ve been compiling a massive amount of recipes, and if God gives us the time and energy, we’re planning to be able to start providing them to you shortly into the New Year! I’m truly excited about this! I have received hundreds of recipe requests this past year, so I know I’m not the only mom who needs food that is healthy, easy and cheap. I know it can be done!

So here is what I can offer you today:

  • My website still contains an older list of sources for healthy foods. These aren’t always “cheap,” but if they’re listed, you can be sure they’re healthy and/or easy.
  • My website also contains an older list of some basic recipes. These aren’t always “easy,” but if they’re listed, you can be sure they’re healthy and cheaper than other alternatives.

This is what you can do for me:

  • Before we launch our new recipe resources in the next month or so, VISIT MY WEBSITE and request a recipe for your favorite foods. This is important, because how else can I know what you like to cook at YOUR house?
  • In the comments below, share any and all feedback you can on what makes nutritious food “healthy, easy and cheap” at your house. There are tons of moms eager to hear what you say!

Happy holiday cooking,
